Your service, commitment, and dedication is appreciated. You proudly served our union and we thank you!

Congrats and thank you to our new board!

Local #3523 has voted for our new Executive Board and Board of Directors. Thank you for stepping up to help lead Local 3523. Our new board led by President Sammy Fox and Vice President James Witt is looking forward to serving the members of our local and continuing to lead our community. 
Pulse Point

Great work by our very own Nick Hoover. Nick has brought the Pulse Point App and system to the residents of San Luis Obispo. This is an app that truly saves lives. Great work Nick!!!

MOU 2016 Signed!!
Congrats and thank you to the entire negotiations team. Over a year of very hard work and many hours dedicated by our team. Led by Mike King, our team was able to navigate a temultuous process, ending in a positive result for all our members. Great work. Stay Union Stong.

SLO City Out of County July 2015

SLO City currently with 6 members in northern CA helping fight the many wildfires that are burning. We have 4 assigned on Engine 6, 1 Strike Team Leader, and 1 ST-Leader assistant. Thank you for continuing to protect those across the state. Stay Safe!
SLO City Firefighters train Camp Cinder Cadets

SLO City Truck Co. #1 assisted with teaching Truck Ops for Cal Fire's Camp Cinder. Great job to all those involved!

Exciting May and June
This is a busy couple of months leading into fire season. This month in May we have the bike month Pancake Breakfast on the 21st. Please come visit Fire Station 1 for some great firehouse pancakes from 0700-1100am. In June we have two weeks for hands only CPR insrtuction at farmers market on June 11th and June 18th. Please come out and see us!
Membership Meeting Postponed
Meeting postponed to Tuesday, April 21 1800 hrs.  BOD will meet at 1715 hrs.  Pizza will be served tomorrow.  Pizza will also be served today at FS #1.  Please pick up 2 pizzas/station.  Thanks for good work on Tassajara Incident.
Fresno Fire Captain
Brothers and Sisters, As many of you know Fire Captain Pete Dern was critically injured while battling a fire in Fresno California.  Captain Dern was leading his crew across the roof to provide ventilation for interior crews.  The roof gave way and he fell throught the roof and into the fire.
April 2015 Elections
Brothers and Sisters, We will be having elections in April 2015.  Please read local bi-laws for nominations.  Nominations can be sent to Secretary J. Legislative Conference 2015
Brothers and Sisters, I was proud (to say the least) to have represented our Local 3523 as your President at the 2015 Legislative Conference in Washington DC.  I spent half a day meeting with our affiliates, learning and understanding legislation and meeting with our two Senators offices of (Boxer and Feinstein) and Congresswoman Capps.

Great news!  Our Local 3523 have partnered with our Department in joining the CFF (California Fire Foundation) S.A.V.E program. Part of CFF mission is to provide victim assistance.   Fire Chief Olson, DC Gater and President Gonzalez (L3523) have agreed and signed the documents of the  MOU language. Vaughn David Witt
Congratulations to James and Emily Witt on the birth of baby boy Vaughn David.  He was born on March 27th at approx 5pm. 8lbs 12 oz and 21" long.  Mom and Vaughn are home recovering.  Flowers have been sent on behalf of L3523.  James is busy caring for the 3 girls (4 girls). Read More...
Loss Of Firefighter Dan Corrigan
"It is with profound sadness that the Santa Barbara City FD, Local 525, announces the untimely passing of Firefighter Daniel Corrigan.  At just 35 years of age, Firefighter Corrigan died on March 4, 2015."
